Merkisha Rush is a dedicated parent, community leader, and advocate for excellence in education. She is the proud mother of two sons — one who graduated from Twinsburg High School (THS) in 2021 and another who is currently in seventh grade at R.B. Chamberlin Middle School (RBC). As a parent, she understands and empathizes with the challenges and opportunities facing students, educators, and families in the Twinsburg City School District.
Merkisha has a deep passion for community involvement, demonstrated through initiatives such as organizing a Turkey Drive, hosting annual sock drives to support homeless individuals, supporting PAWS on Hunger, and volunteering with the Cleveland Metropolitan School District Tru2U program and Junior Achievement programs. She has proudly served in various roles within the district’s Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and currently serves as the Co-Fundraiser Chair for the Twinsburg Orchestra Boosters.
As a parent, community leader, and professional, I believe in building a school district that puts students first, empowers educators, and strengthens trust with families and the community. My commitment is rooted in both personal experience as a mother of two in the Twinsburg schools and over 15 years of proven professional leadership.
Every decision I make will focus on ensuring students have the tools, resources, and opportunities they need to thrive — both in the classroom and beyond.
Teachers and staff are the backbone of student success. I will advocate for the training, resources, and support they need to deliver high-quality education.
I am committed to open communication, accountability, and honest leadership. By strengthening the partnership between the board, families, educators, and community, we can build confidence in our schools.
I will manage taxpayer dollars with integrity and transparency. My goal is to ensure balanced budgets, strong oversight, and smart investments that put students and classrooms first.
