Merkisha Rush is a dedicated parent, community leader, and advocate for excellence in education. She is the proud mother of two sons — one who graduated from Twinsburg High School (THS) in 2021 and another who is currently in seventh grade at R.B. Chamberlin Middle School (RBC). As a parent, she understands and empathizes with the challenges and opportunities facing students, educators, and families in the Twinsburg City School District.
Merkisha has a deep passion for community involvement, demonstrated through initiatives such as organizing a Turkey Drive, hosting annual sock drives to support homeless individuals, supporting PAWS on Hunger, and volunteering with the Cleveland Metropolitan School District Tru2U program and Junior Achievement programs. She has proudly served in various roles within the district’s Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and currently serves as the Co-Fundraiser Chair for the Twinsburg Orchestra Boosters.
Her dedication to leadership extends beyond the district. Merkisha serves on the Board of Trustees for the University of Toledo Alumni Association, is a board member for the Sevynteenth Foundation, and has held key leadership roles within Toastmasters International District 10, empowering others to develop confidence, find their voice, and lead effectively. If elected, she will continue to remain active as a parent, community advocate, and leader.
Professionally, Merkisha brings over 15 years of leadership experience in auditing, compliance, operations, and financial oversight. She has a proven track record of mentoring teams, streamlining complex processes, driving operational excellence, and implementing strong internal controls. Her background in high-stakes environments equips her with the analytical skills, strategic vision, and collaborative mindset needed to serve effectively on the school board.
Merkisha is running for the Twinsburg City School Board of Education to bring forward-thinking, accountable leadership that moves the district into a stronger, more prosperous future.
Every decision I make will focus on ensuring our students have the tools, resources, and opportunities they need to succeed — both inside and outside the classroom.
